Volunteer Self-Reflection and Contemplation

Peepal Tree Foundation has been doing substantial COVID19 relief work.  

Phase I 

Ration distribution – 

  1. To families of Daily Wage workers who are on a ‘no work no pay’ over the last two months. 
  2. To families who do not have ration card
  3. Two weeks full ration is being provided. 

What can I (we) do? 

Donate, circulate in groups to donate, corporate donations and Sponsors. For supporting a family for 2 weeks with full ration in a family of 5 people we just need INR1850. 

Phase II

Mask Making and Free Distribution – 

  1. Engaging our SAKSHAM women from several slums to make cotton Masks that are reusable and as per govt. guidelines on Masks. 
  2. Free distribution of Masks in slums across the country. 

What can I (we) do? 

Donate, circulate in groups to donate, raise corporate donations and Sponsors for supporting out Mask Making Project. We pay a woman INR 20 to make a Mask. Total cost including distribution is INR 50 (within Delhi), and INR 70 (outside Delhi)

Phase III

Creating ‘Resource Rooms’ or self contained virtual classrooms aiding to resume academics for underprivileged children in slums – govt schools and a few private schools. 

What can I (we) do? 

Teachers who can commit at least 1 day in a week for 1 hour to conduct virtual sessions for our underprivileged children in slums. 

Teachers with ability, aptitude, passion and commitment please contact us immediately. 

  • Conduct Samarth – the circulating library, sessions at the slum around or near your residential area.
  • Undergo the VEP (Volunteer Enrichment program) to be able to conduct Samarth sessions with ease.
  • Spread word around about PTF’s weekly updates, inspiring people to be a part of, via whatsapp messages to communities/groups in your phone book regularly.
  • A snack is distributed (bananas, biscuits etc) at the end of end of every session. Approximate cost for which is about INR 300 to INR 500.                  Sponsor for as many sessions as you want.
  • Do books donation drive (New or Pre-loved) time to time from individual and corporate levels and contribute books to our Library. Make sure you collect/donate books that you know your own children would love to read!!
  • Each Samarth session in a slum costs about INR3000 to INR 5000. You can choose to sponsor as many sessions you can and want.
  • Sponsor sewing machine(s) towards Saksham – the women empowerment program.
  • You have a skill that can generate tangible income for underprivileged women in slums? Come impart a livelihood skill to her. Be a trainer.
  • Sponsor /co sponsor training(s) program(s) for women in slums.
  • Corporate partnerships with our Programs Samarth and Saksham as a part of CSR activity.
