A consignment 300 conference Bags just left Kolkata port for Bali, Indonesia. We are so proud that NUS Singapore was generous enough to place an order to make 300 jute bags. Women from a small village, 40 kms away from Asansol facilitated the entire process, right from procuring raw fabric to getting it cut and later procuring thread and stitching to reaching the finished products at the port to ship away. A training in stitching and tailoring was conducted by Peepal Tree Foundation for 50 women from the same village. Later 15 stitching machines were donated to women as a part of our Women Empowerment Program back in January – February 2011.
